THE FORT TRAIL

Feste Kaiser Wilhelm II

The Fort de Mutzig trail “In the footsteps of a giant”

We have developed, in collaboration with the Molshiem-Mutzig Tourist Office, the Club Vosgien of Molsheim-Mutzig and the Community of Communes, a path to allow visitors who arrive by train to Mutzig to access the Fort in a very pleasant way. A departure is also possible from the car park of the town hall of Mutzig. The route sometimes passes through orchards and then through the forest and offers magnificent landscapes on the Rhine plain, the Bruche valley and the Vosges. A dozen panels line the path and provide information about the gigantic construction site of La Feste.

The car parks at the station or that of the town hall are available to walkers who wish to combine walking with a visit to the Fort.

• Length of the trail: 5 km
• Approximate duration: 1 hour 45 minutes
• Elevation gain: 180 m
• Club Vosgien markings :

The trail to the fort

The simplified plan, opposite, details the route, the P panels indicate the three car parks, the white squares give the position of the explanatory panels and the Fort car park from where the visits depart. A round trip with the visit represents approximately 12 kilometers of walking. Many people take this circuit every year.
Some groups park part of their cars at the start and others at the Fort which allows them to only go one way.
