Evolution 1970 to 1945.
All the techniques used in the art of fortifications will have to be questioned. The steel industry will become of paramount importance. The gradual arrival of new techniques and new weapons systems will allow armies to gradually free themselves from road and rail networks. The fortifications gradually lost their historical role, and the definitive end of the era of permanent fortifications was marked by the atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
