Milestones in European history

The long genesis of Europe …

In 843, Europe was carved up by the Treaty of Verdun. With the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1951, 1,108 years later, after countless wars, destruction and casualties, at last the enemy countries began a process of reunification for the good of all. And indeed, the peoples of Europe have not suffered a war for 79 years. Never before has life been so good in Europe, never before have parents been able to bring up their children without fear of seeing them go off to war.
